CUT-UP
— 2008

Performance, Dome Concert Hall, Brighton Festival 2008, Brighton (UK).

Music composed and played by Beatrice Martini (harp and percussions) and Robert Lippok (pipe organ and electronics).

In its heyday Brighton Dome's hand-built 1936 pipe organ was the centrepiece of the world's longest running seaside concert series. Seventy years on Brighton Festival put a subversive new spin on the monumental organ in a 21st century recital: Manic Organic.

Robert Lippok and I realized a performance called Cut-up. We had in mind this pun about "organ" as a musical and anatomical word at the same time. So, we composed some patterns based on concepts about sounds and body parts and we developed them live using the organ effects that intrigued us the most together with harp, electronics and percussions.

The Manic Organic show involved also other artists, like The Necks, Beck's Futures prize-winner Matt Stokes, Paul Ayres and William Whitehead.
